Dear Parents and Carers

I hope you all had a wonderful summer break. We are expecting some beautiful sunshine when the children return!

We are really looking forward to welcoming your children back to school on Tuesday 5^th September. (Children starting in Reception will have individual start times for Tues 5^th or Weds 6^th which have been communicated separately to you.)

Below is some important information regarding organisation for the first few weeks.

New Staff

I am delighted to welcome our new administrative officer – Mrs Redfern – to the school office. She knows the school community well and worked at the school in the past. As with any new job, it takes a time to understand the systems and processes, so I would please ask that you are patient with our office team in the first few weeks of school.

We also welcome Miss McKeown in Pear class, Mrs Johnson in Maple class and Miss Noble in Birch class. We are extremely lucky to have such enthusiastic, strong teachers to add to our teaching team.

Finally, we welcome Mrs Palmer as a Teaching Assistant to Apple class. Mrs Palmer brings strong previous experience to us at Kingsham.

Work on the school premises

We have had some work on the school premises over the holidays which is not yet complete. The contractors will be with us next week to complete the work. We will, of course, ensure that the children are completely safe while the work is being completed. Can I please ask all of our families to be particularly cautious at pick-up and drop-off as we may have vehicles arriving and leaving. Additionally, can I please ask you to keep away from the fencing that you may see in Key Stage 2 next week.

Forest School

This half-term, Birch and Hawthorn will have a Forest School session. Birch class will be Tuesday afternoon and Hawthorn will be Wednesday afternoon. This will be starting the second week back. Further information will be sent out to these two classes about what will be needed.

Meet the Teacher meetings

At the start of the year, we will have ‘Meet the Teacher’ meetings to find out lots of important information about your child’s year group. This is also an opportunity to meet your child’s class teacher and ask any questions that you may have. The following dates and times for the meetings are:

• Year 6 – will be Wednesday 6^th September in the hall followed by a Kingswood meeting.
• Year 5 – will be Thursday 7^th September in the hall.
• Year 3 and 4 – will be Friday 8^th September in the hall.
• EYFS – will be Monday 11^th September in Apple class.
• Year 1 – will be 12^th September in Ash class.
• Year 2 – will be 13^th September in Cherry class.

 

Dates for the rest of the term

Kingswood Trip for Year 6 pupils will be 18^th to 22^nd September.

Wednesday 27^th September at 7pm – Open Evening for new parents/carers.

5^th October – NHS flu vaccinations (information to follow)

13^th October - Just One Tree Day (dress in green)
