Making Kingsham Proud
Mrs Gilmore-Hayes accompanied some of our Year 6 writers on an Able Writers Day last Friday. Here is what she reported from the day:
I am pleased to report that the Able Writers Day, held at Portfield Primary, went very well on Friday.
I was extremely proud of the group of Year 6's selected to attend, as they were fully engaged with the learning and tasks set, behaved impeccably throughout the day and represented Kingsham Primary in the best possible way.
Author Nikki Sheehan, who led the workshop, set the pupils the task of writing their own book, complete with cover and blurb on the back.
Three out of the six Kingsham pupils stood up and read their stories to the whole group. I noted the following comments by Nikki Sheehan following each reading:
Josiane (Yr6) - "Genius! I wouldn't change a word!".
Phoenix (Yr6) - "Amazing! Confident writing and read beautifully. I feel as if I'm amongst professionals!".
Bebe (Yr6) - "I love it! It's incredible, well done, you should feel very proud of yourself. That's the most sophisticated piece of writing I've ever heard from a Year 6".
The whole group deserve praise and recognition for their achievements and efforts. I was proud to accompany them, and told them so, on Friday.
A huge thank you to Mrs Gilmore-Hayes for accompanying the children and for all of her support.
