A huge thank you to Mrs Tarrant and everyone who has contributed

Kingsham and ‘The Green Gang’, who are class representatives for all things eco, are extremely proud to announce that after lots of hard work the school has achieved its Eco-Schools Green Flag Award.

At the start of our journey, a group of children decided which areas as a school we could improve on to help the environment. The following topics were chosen to focus on within the school:

  • composting,
  • recycling
  • switching taps/lights off to save water and electricity.

The children have been very good at making sure lights and taps are turned off and giving friendly reminders to everyone to do so. Every class has been using their green fruit bins at break time to collect their fruit waste, which is helping to create some useful compost in the school allotment.

Also within school, we have introduced extra recycling opportunities to help lessen the impact on the environment, as a school in addition to recycling paper we also recycle crisp packets, batteries and also hold termly Bag2School collections. Plus we have planted trees and various other plants on the school grounds, which has also allowed us to gain our level three RHS Campaign for School Gardening award.

We will continue with our efforts in the coming months and carrying on to try new things to make a better future for everyone. Even the smallest change can make a difference.
